Caligo Ventures is the exclusive United States representative of the famed Asa Wright Nature Centre and Lodge in Trinidad & Tobago.
Caligo Ventures also operates and markets its own Natural History Tours, principally to Trinidad & Tobago, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Ecuador, and Peru, as well as Kenya. A nationwide clientele of individuals, small businesses and corporations adds to the diversity and stability of our agency.
Caligo Ventures was founded by Phil Schaeffer, former Vice-President, National Audubon Society, and Margaret Schaeffer who, along with their extensive travel experience and expertise, were also professional biologist-ornithologists.
Phil and Margaret retired in 2009 handing off the business to new owners Mark Hedden, Larry Lebowitz, and Jerry Lower who operated Caligo through July of 2013. Now Caligo’s phones ring in the Southwest birding Mecca of Portal, Arizona. As of August 1st 2013 Caligo Ventures will be operated by Naturalist Journeys, LLC. Peg Abbott, Naturalist Journey’s President and CEO, is a long-time friend and colleague. She worked for Phil Schaeffer designing and directing ecotours for the National Audubon Society for 14 years.
Our toll-free “800″ number, e-mail, and World Wide Web site continues to provide convenient access for our clients across the United States, Canada and Europe.
