This is our Classic Trinidad & Tobago itinerary, spending six nights at Asa Wright Nature Centre, and three nights at either the nestled-in-the-hills Cuffie River Nature Retreat or the beachfront Blue Waters Inn. Tours include Centre Grounds, Blanchisseuse Road in the Northern Range, Aripo Savannah, Night Birding, Nariva Swamp, the Oilbird Cave, Yerreté, Caroni Marsh, Marsh Ponds in Tobago, Gilpin Trace, and Little Tobago Island. EIGHT-DAY/SEVEN-NIGHT TRINIDAD 201 TOURS
Trinidad 201 is a new itinerary devised primarily for return visitors who want to bird in some of the island’s lesser traveled but equally diverse habitats. It is also a good option for birders who want to go on a group tour but are intent on seeing the Trinidad Piping Guan, a bird which we do not seek out on our standard itineraries.
New trips on this itinerary include an outing to Bush Bush, an ecological gem on the southeastern part of the island which is home to a steady population of Red Howler Monkeys and Cappuchin Monkeys. It also includes an early morning trip to the region near the town of Grande Riviere, a stronghold for the rare and threatened Trinidad Piping Guan. Also, for many return visitors, the will be the first chance to visit the newly opened Yerreté for hummingbirds.
The Trinidad 201 itinerary also includes a number of favorite guided outings — the Centre grounds, Blanchisseuse Road in the Northern Rain, and, on the tours last evening, a chance to see the spectacular evening flight of Scarlet Ibis at Caroni Marsh Sanctuary.
