COVID Protocols

Caligo Ventures has over two decades of experience and is a leader in planning independent travel for birders. Trinidad and Tobago was our first destination; today Belize, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala join the list as some of our most popular independent destinations. In Trinidad, Belize, and Panama we offer popular two- or three-lodge birding packages, using top eco-lodges and talented local guides ― at great value. In Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, we can craft a custom adventure just for you. International independent travel includes airport greeting, accommodations, guided outings, a meal plan you select and all transportation.

For the 2021-2022 season, we will offer Independent Birding Ventures (IBV) on a limited basis. IBVs are designed for two or more people, a family, or a group of friends. IBVs are perfect for photographers, or for a group with varied interests. With an IBV, you pick the dates, the length of your stay, and the activity level.

A custom IBV requires significant planning time and coordination with all the elements composing a high-quality birding exploration of Trinidad and Tobago. Our ability to build a custom IBV in a post-COVID world is dependent on the availability of lodging at some of our small hotels, and the flexibility of our drivers and guides, and the weather. Therefore, we will require a $300 planning fee as soon as we start the process, as well as a deposit to hold your spaces. If you wish to stay at other than the lodges we currently have agreements with, you will need to book that yourself and pay whatever deposit they require.

Please contact our office if you would like to discuss planning an Independent Birding Venture to Trinidad and Tobago. In the meantime, read the itineraries for our group tours for information on the excursions you can choose from, and the birds and activities common to each location.
